Equites Sauteur

Sutter is brave and trusting of his rider, with a naturally forgiving and easy nature. He has an excellent natural point of balance, is a careful jumper, and is nice to ride. He has a nice, big gallop with a large stride and a big scopey jump over fences. On the flat, he has nice smooth gaits and easy transitions. At home, he has an in-your-pocket personality and can always be found waiting at the gate for his rider!

Sutter was bred by Lana Smith of Rosenol Performance Horses. At three, Sutter was purchased as a development prospect for junior rider Caitlyn Sutherland in the Equites Program, managed and coached by Brian Vicars and Olympian Sandra Donnelly. Sutter is an exceptionally rideable and trainable horse. He has excelled in a professional eventing program and has proved himself to be a horse with a good work ethic, who is friendly, amiable, and eager to please. Sutter’s way of going makes him easy to sit in all his gaits.

At FOUR, Sutter regularly hacked out alone, regularly trailered alone, swam, and was willing and happy to do whatever he was asked. He competed in his first horse trial as a 4 year old at Prentice Creek - Entry division. With no rails or jump faults, he finished his first event on his dressage score. On his first cross-country, he behaved like an experienced packer. Sutter went on to win the 4-year-old division of the Alberta Event Horse Prospects and win the reserve Champion overall. He finished first at his third and final event of the season. Sutter ended every competition on his dressage score his first season out.

At FIVE, Sutter was upgraded to Pre-Training and Novice. He is a natural talented eventer at 5 years of age. He has excellent dressage scores and became confident at XC Pre-Training, completing XC clear at Rebecca Farms in July 2022 and clear in XC at the American Eventing Championships in August 2022
