Tessa is a 2018 Thoroughbred mare standing 15.2hh. She is easy to clip, bathe, and handle for the farrier. She trailers well, is quiet at new places, and stands calmly tied to the trailer or in a stall by herself—she’s not herd bound. Tessa is also great to hack out alone, whether on trails or in the arena.
On the flat, she is still somewhat green but eager and willing to learn.
She offers a nice leg yield, though still a little wiggly, and has her lead changes about 85% of the time. Over fences, Tessa is bold and honest—she’s never said no to a jump and isn’t spooky. She’s currently confidently schooling up to .85m, and I would be comfortable showing her at that height today. She has a good natural rhythm, doesn’t rush the fences, and responds well to both half halts and a full halt.
Tessa would be a wonderful partner for a confident rider who wants a straightforward, willing mare to bring along.
